Audio - Several Hours After Tony's Hospital Room

There is nothing left to clear up.

There is an abundance that must be rendered clear regarding Tony Stark.

[He sounds vaguely tired and annoyed at the evasion. At least he's used to it.]

And this is my polite request for it. I believe there is a good chance were I to take the Communication Datapoint, I would be able to use it's knowledge to find where you are located, and therefore trace back to you. Which would be awkward for us both.

[ The static intensifies for a few moments. Which may well be the device’s reaction to the Archivist’s mental growling. ]

[Well, he isn't going to respond. This was something that needed said in person. Which is why he was there in the library, not twenty minutes later, bag still over his shoulder and the stuffed cat doll riding along in it so that it didn't have to keep up with Reeve's stride.]

[Hello, he is here, wrecker of homes.]

[ The Archivist isn’t trying to hide, but he has found a so far unfamiliar book in one of the shelves, which of course has been holding his interest. Upon hearing his name, however, Jon sets the book back on the nearest shelf with a displeased noise and steps out between them, one hand crudely bandaged and pointedly kept underneath his other hand as he crosses his arms. No need to show Mr. Perfect more of his flaws. ]

[ It’s pointed. Uninviting. Jon doesn’t wish this talk. ]

[Well, now he not only wishes for materia, but that he had grabbed the medical data point before leaving the hospital. There is, undoubtedly, regret and concern on his face as he sees the bandaged hand.]

I’m very sorry about your hand. That was my fault, wasn’t it? Because I was affectionate toward Stark.

And you came here to tell me that.

[ He wouldn’t let Reeve near his hand anyway. It’s healing. ]

Success? There is no success, Jon. I have been his company in the night before, but I mean nothing to him. And you can hardly fault me for having aspirations on a man that neither I nor him seemed to be aware of your romantic intentions toward.

[There he frowns, moving to lean against a nearby wall.]

Ok, so Ezra ends up spending more time than he expected, stroking mothcats and trying to detach himself enough that he can get into the library proper to meet up with Jon.

He brushes fur off his cloak as he comes through the door.

"So, Billy's world, not the best welcome back, huh?"

Is Ezra being followed by a few especially clingy felines? Of course he is. And has Jon observed the entire thing without bothering to step in? Certainly.

At least that means he has some fresh tea prepared and welcomes Ezra with a small gesture to follow him out the back of the building - where either more mothcats are lounging about, or the ones Ezra has left at the front have already moved in anticipation for more attention.

"Actually it was not half as bad than the welcome I had upon returning to my Earth." The Archivist admits with a small shrug.

Well, clingy feline are fine with Ezra as long as they let him go....eventually. He sets on the ground behind the library.

"Oh." Ezra mulls that over for a second. "So, is there anything you miss from home?"

Deep down even mothcats are cats and will curl up for their naps eventually. Ezra won't have to worry about them not letting him go anymore at all.

Jon picks a mug of tea from the small tray that has already been put outside and offers it down to Ezra. "Hmm." He makes a pensive noise. "That's not a question that is easily answered, Ezra. I may miss my friends. If they still are my friends. A lot happened while I was gone. A lot has changed. And not for the better."

We don't know each other and I'm hoping to change that. I'm a friend of Tony's and I've just gone to see him. It'd really ease my mind if we could both check in on him from time to time. Could we talk?

[ Well, Jon has met and interacted with a few Steves in the past, so he knows a few things already. One being that Steve can be trusted and indeed is a friend of Tony.

Of course Steve wouldn't know. And it would be rude to pretent he knows everything. Hence Jon will not mention any of this. ]

He is supposed to live with me, but- Yes. We can talk.

I really think he'd appreciate it if you asked him to come home. He's - tired, at the end of his rope, I think. He's not gonna accept it outright but I think he could use the support.

[ Well, this gets a sigh. ]

I keep telling him to come back, Steve. Unfortunately I am unable to just- Drag him back. I could ask Tommy, maybe, but...

[ Is this another case of Tony refusing to listen to his actual words, or does he believe that the library changed because Jon doesn't want him there...? ]

I went downstairs to the lab.

Try not to hold it against him - like I said, he's not making a lot of sense right now. He said he'd be up, but if you haven't seen him then he probably just got me out of his hair to go back to work.

I'm sorry, Jon. Sometimes he's a handful.

[ And that's when the feed abruptly cuts to video and Steve is being glared at sternly. ]

Don't tell me he went down into that radioactive laboratory we closed off! I know he can be whimsical, but- He should know better after what happened with Eddie and Steve. I'm not watching his every step because I want to trust that he refrains from doing anything this reckless!
